A 48-year-old man accused of molesting a 13-year-old relative and showing her and her friend pornography was free Wednesday after being sentenced to a year in jail for his guilty plea to misdemeanor child abuse charges.

David Martin Crown, who also pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor on Sept. 8, was placed on four years of formal probation at sentencing Tuesday. Martin, who had been in jail since June 23, 2019, was released Feb. 8, according to jail records.

A count of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor younger than 13 and two counts of distributing pornography to a minor with the intent to engage in sexual conduct, all felonies, were dismissed Feb. 8, according to court records.

The girl and her 14-year-old friend flew in from out of state to visit Crown, who was accused of providing alcohol to them, Sgt. Phil McMullin of the Orange Police Department said when Crown was arrested.

Crown was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in January 2005 in Riverside County, according to court records.
