A passenger in a vehicle involved in a car-to-car shooting in Gardena Thursday was killed and the driver wounded.
Officers received a call about 2:05 p.m. of a shooting in the area of El Segundo Boulevard and Van Ness Avenue, according to Lt. Christopher Cuff of the Gardena Police Department.
Before officers arrived, Hawthorne police received a call about shooting victims at a business near 126th Street and Van Ness Avenue, where Hawthorne officers found two victims in a vehicle, Cuff said.
The passenger was declared dead at the scene and the driver was taken to a hospital and expected to survive, Cuff said.
A preliminary investigation determined the victims were involved in a car-to-car shooting near the intersection of El Segundo Boulevard and Van Ness Avenue, then continued north on Van Ness Avenue before stopping in the parking lot of a business in Hawthorne, Cuff said.
A description of the shooter or suspect vehicle was not immediately available.
The name of the victim was not disclosed.
