A suspect was shot by police in South Gate Wednesday evening.
The shooting was reported about 8:10 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Gate Avenue, near the intersection of Santa Ana and State streets, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which was assisting South Gate police with the investigation.
The wounded man was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, the department said.
Details of what the suspect was wanted for or what led up to the shooting were not immediately available.
