A tow truck driver facing identity theft and receiving stolen property charges was in custody Thursday on suspicion of using his tow truck to steal cars in Fullerton.

Kevin Patrick Cannata, 35, of Anaheim, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of stealing several vehicles with his tow truck between mid-February and March 13, police said.

Cannata was being held on $200,000 bail, police said.

Cannata was previously charged with a felony count of receiving stolen property and five misdemeanor counts of fraudulently acquiring or retaining personal identifying information of another, a misdemeanor count of petty theft of lost property and a misdemeanor count of possession of a stun gun with a prior conviction.

Cannata is also charged in another case with a misdemeanor count of failure to maintain or provide required information for stopping a tow truck on a highway as well as driving without a valid license.
