A tow truck driver facing identity theft and receiving stolen property charges was charged Friday with using his tow truck to steal three vehicles in Fullerton.
Kevin Patrick Cannada, 35, of Anaheim, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of stealing several vehicles with his tow truck between mid-February and March 13, police said.
Cannada pleaded not guilty Friday at his arraignment in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana to three counts of a theft with a prior felony conviction of driving or taking of a vehicle and a count of a prohibited person owning ammunition, all felonies, as well as one count each of receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
Cannada is accused of stealing a Toyota Tundra truck, a BMW, and a utility van, according to the criminal complaint. He was also accused of possessing methamphetamine.
Cannada was previously charged with one felony count of receiving stolen property and five misdemeanor counts of fraudulently acquiring or retaining personal identifying information of another, and one misdemeanor count each of petty theft of lost property and possession of a stun gun with a prior conviction.
Cannada is also charged in another case with a misdemeanor count of failure to maintain or provide required information for stopping a tow truck on a highway as well as driving without a valid license.
Cannada was ordered to return to court April 9 for a pretrial hearing in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
