A 35-year-old man arrested for allegedly soliciting sex from a minor online during an undercover decoy operation was back on the streets Monday.

Investigators said Ramiro Rodriguez of Thousand Palms initiated an online conversation with the goal of soliciting a sexual encounter with a minor, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Members of the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force posed as a 13-year-old female on social media and Rodriguez allegedly arranged to meet the online decoy Thursday at a location in the 72900 block of Highway 111, sheriff’s officials said. That is at or near a Palm Desert shopping mall.

He was arrested when he arrived at the location at 7 p.m. and was booked into the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio.

He was released Friday after posting $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 22.
