A suspect was taken into custody after leading police on a short pursuit in Hollywood Thursday that began after police noticed he was stealing license plates off vehicles.
The pursuit began about 4:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Formosa Avenue, between Hollywood and Sunset boulevards, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Division.
The suspect fled the scene in a BMW SUV with plates that did not match the vehicle. It crashed into another vehicle a few seconds later at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Highland Avenue.
Police took the suspect into custody, Im said. No further suspect information was released.
No injuries were reported. The collision prompted the closure of Franklin Avenue between Highland Avenue and North Orange Drive.
