An accused killer was in custody Tuesday for allegedly killing another man in a deadly beating in a Van Nuys apartment.
“The victim appeared to have suffered multiple blunt force traumatic injuries,” according to an LAPD statement. “Witnesses at (the) scene provided the identity of the suspect and eyewitness accounts of his actions which led to the victim’s death.”
The crime occurred about 2:30 a.m. Monday in the 8100 block of Langdon Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Pedro Rodriguez, 37, of Los Angeles was booked on suspicion of murder in the death of a 36-year-old victim, whose name was withheld pending notification of his relatives, the LAPD reported. Rodriguez was being held on $2 million bail.
Officers sent to the Langdon Avenue address on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon found the victim dead on the floor of the apartment, the LAPD reported.
Rodriguez was later arrested at his residence near the 6700 block of Hayvenhurst Avenue, police said.
There was no word on a motive.
