A 35-year-old man was shot to death in the city of Commerce, authorities said Sunday.

The shooting was reported at 11:26 p.m. Saturday on Dunham Street and South Eastern Avenue, according to Deputy Morgan Arteaga of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Deputies from the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station responded to a 911 call about a gunshot victim, Arteaga said.

” Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso,” she said..

Paramedics took the mortally wounded man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 12:10 a.m., Arteaga said.

Homicide detectives were canvassing the crime scene in search of witnesses and evidence, she said.
