A 65-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a girl while working as a youth leader at a Riverside church remained behind bars Saturday in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Riverside police allege that Jaime Alejandre Gonzalez, who worked at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, sexually assaulted the girl multiple times between 2010 and 2015 while she was under 10 years old.

The girl told investigators that the alleged acts occurred while Gonzalez drove her around the city.

Gonzalez, a Riverside resident, was arrested on Franklin Avenue on July 13 and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of five counts of lewd and lascivious acts against a child under the age of 14.

He has a felony settlement conference scheduled for Wednesday and a preliminary hearing on Friday.
