A suspect fled the scene of a two vehicle collision in Cathedral City Wednesday that left five people with severe injuries.
Police responded to the intersection of Ramon Road and Cathedral Canyon Drive at 12:18 a.m. and found two vehicles with major damage and five occupants with severe injuries.
The driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene on foot, they said.
The Cathedral City Fire Department then responded to the scene and took the injured occupants to a local hospital.
The Cathedral City Police Department said its traffic team had taken over the investigation.
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
