Two teenage boys were in custody Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a person in Cathedral City, and a third suspect was being sought, police said.
Officers were sent to Date Palm and Dinah Shore drives about 6:35 p.m. Tuesday regarding an assault in which a person suffered a head injury from being pistol-whipped, said Cathedral City police Sgt. Alberto Ruiz.
“Officers located the suspect vehicle, and a vehicle pursuit ensued,” Ruiz said in a statement.
The suspect vehicle stopped at Canyon Vista Road south of Ramon Road, and three teens ran off, Ruiz said.
The driver was quickly detained, and a short time later, a second suspect was detained, Ruiz said. The third suspect was not located.
The driver, a 17-year-old resident of Cathedral City, was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony evading, conspiracy and assault with a deadly weapon, Ruiz said.
The second suspect, also 17 and a resident of Cathedral City, was arrested and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and robbery, Ruiz said.
Both teens were booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall in Indio, Ruiz said. Their names were not released.
The victim suffered a laceration to his head and was treated at a hospital, Ruiz said.
