A 57-year-old man with previous convictions pleaded guilty Thursday and was immediately sentenced to three years in prison for a series of necklace robberies of elderly victims in Fountain Valley.
Larry Tripp, who turned 57 on Thursday, pleaded guilty to four counts of robbery and two counts of inflicting injury on an elder adult, all felonies, according to court records.
He admitted robberies on May 27, June 4 and June 1.
In each of the robberies he snatched necklaces from elderly victims, some of whom suffered minor injuries, according to Fountain Valley police.
Tripp accepted a plea bargain from Orange County Superior Court Judge Kazuharu Makino.
Tripp had prior strikes but they were from 29 and 32 year ago, according to court records, so the judge struck them for the purposes of sentencing. Tripp was given credit for 113 days in custody.
