A San Jacinto Unified School District security guard and football coach accused of sexually assaulting a minor was free on bail Tuesday.
Damian Huff, 37, was arrested at his home Monday for allegedly being in an “inappropriate relationship” with a minor at the school district, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies began their investigation Sept. 15, when they received information about the alleged inappropriate relationship. Huff had already been placed on administrative leave by the district by that time, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Heath.
Dawn Lawrence of the San Jacinto Unified School District said Huff “was immediately placed on administrative leave and was prohibited from accessing all campuses when we learned of the allegations. District officials will continue to work closely with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department as part of their ongoing criminal investigation. The employment status of Huff is pending the investigation.”
Huff was initially booked at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of multiple counts of sexual assault but has since posted bail, according to jail records.
Huff is tentatively expected to make his initial court appearance Dec. 17 at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.
