A toddler was killed in a crash in North Hills Sunday.
The two-vehicle crash in North Hills killed an 18-month-old boy and seriously hurt a woman, according to Los Angeles police.
A westbound vehicle on West Nordhoff Street was making a left turn when it collided with a Toyota Camry, police said. The Camry did not stop after the crash and police said that the driver, suspected of felony hit-and-run, turned himself in Sunday afternoon but was not immediately arrested.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 7:35 a.m. to the 15500 block of West Nordhoff, where witnesses said at least one of the vehicles “bounced” into a wall, injuring the child and woman, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
The two victims were standing on a corner near a food cart when a Honda CRV jumped the curb and hit them, ABC7 reported, citing police. The woman was not related to the child, who was with his grandparents and in a stroller when he was struck, the station reported. The CRV driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
The boy died later at a hospital, according to Officer Anthony Delatore of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The Mayor’s Crisis Response Team was requested to assist the family.
