A documented gang member from Coachella was arrested Thursday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after avoiding arrest since June.
Robert Cruz, 40, was arrested by Riverside County sheriff’s deputies Thursday as they conducted an arrest warrant in the 49000 block of Highway 74 in Palm Desert, according to Sgt. Paul Heredia.
According to Heredia, an arrest warrant was issued for Cruz in June for alleged crimes of assault with a deadly weapon and witness intimidation.
Cruz was located while making a delivery to a residence for a local furniture store. He was arrested without incident and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on $1 million bail.
He is expected to make his initial appearance at the Larson Justice Center on Monday.
