A man suspected of reckless driving was taken into custody in the Bell area Thursday evening after leading police on a pursuit that began in South Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Police Department officers began pursuing the man about 9 p.m. in the area of Normandie Avenue and 52nd Street, police reported.
The man led police onto the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway and drove through the downtown Los Angeles to the Pomona (60) and Santa Ana (5) freeways in Boyle Heights, ultimately making his way onto the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway.
The man stopped his car on the Long Beach Freeway near Florence Avenue near the border of Bell and Bell Gardens about 9:15 p.m. and surrendered to police without further incident.
