Authorities will be ramping up patrol operations in an attempt to stop DUI offenses in Palm Springs, it was announced Friday.

The Palm Springs Police Department will have additional officers on patrol from Dec. 15 through Jan. 1 in an attempt to decrease DUI accidents during the holidays. The increased effort is part of a larger national campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.

“When it comes to consuming drugs or alcohol and driving, there is a right and wrong choice,” Sgt. Arnold Galvan said. “Make the right choice by not driving impaired so everyone is able to enjoy the holidays.”

Funding for the program was provided through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
