A 27-year-old with a robbery conviction was charged Tuesday with stabbing two men, killing one and wounding the other, at a skate park in Santa Ana.
Police said Nicholas Jordan Nunez of Santa Ana got into a conflict with the two men that escalated into the stabbing Thursday at Centennial Regional Park.
Police were called at 8:20 p.m. Thursday to South Coast Global Medical Center after the hospital admitted Jose Merlan and Jose Arreguin, police said.
Merlan, 27, was pronounced dead at the hospital and Arreguin survived the attack, police said.
Nunez was charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon, both felonies, with sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on one of the men and the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Nunez did not enter a plea at his arraignment in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana and was ordered to return to court Jan. 27.
Nunez has a prior conviction for robbery in April 2015 in Los Angeles County, according to the criminal complaint.
