A man fatally stabbed in west Riverside was engaged in a fight with another man, in what police said Monday involved a feud that evidently culminated in mutual combat.
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed by Riverside police, was killed in the 10900 block of Magnolia Avenue, near Park Sierra Drive, adjacent to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, about 1:50 p.m. Wednesday.
“The preliminary investigation revealed the adult male victim and adult male suspect engaged in a physical altercation when the victim was stabbed in the upper body and died,” Riverside police spokesman Officer Ryan Railsback said.
“The suspect was also injured from the fight and taken to a local hospital for further treatment. A knife and tire iron were located at the scene, and there were several witnesses to this incident.”
Railsback said that homicide detectives interviewed the witnesses and went to the hospital, where the suspect, whose identity was not released, was detained and questioned for an unspecified period.
According to the police spokesman, investigators confirmed that the victim and suspect were embroiled in an “ongoing conflict” that led to the deadly confrontation.
The suspect was not arrested, and the case remains under review, Railsback said.
