Five homeless pod shelters were destroyed by a fire in Riverside Saturday, causing $25,000 in damages.
The non-injury fire was reported about 8:30 a.m. at the Riverside Village Shelter at 1919 Massachusetts Ave., according to the Riverside Fire Department.
All residents of shelter were evacuated while firefighters responded to the blaze, which was extinguished about 9 a.m.
Five homeless pods were rendered uninhabitable by the fire while three others suffered minor heat damage, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
