A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed in Long Beach, and police sought the public’s help Tuesday to find the hit-and-run driver.
The Long Beach man, in his 30s, was injured at about 11:15 p.m. Monday at Artesia Boulevard and Rose Avenue, and died later at a hospital, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Information on his identity was not immediately available.
“Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was standing in eastbound lanes of Artesia Boulevard, outside of a crosswalk, when he was struck by a dark-colored sedan traveling eastbound,” a police statement said.
The vehicle failed to stop at the scene and was last seen heading eastbound on Artesia Boulevard, police said, adding that speed is believed to be a factor in the collision.
