The city of Torrance hosted its 62nd Annual Armed Forces Day Parade Saturday featuring nearly 70 entries.
The 90-minute parade started at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Torrance Boulevard at Crenshaw Boulevard and proceeded one mile west to Medrona Avenue, according to the event web page.
All branches of the military participated in the parade, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard, and this year’s honored branch was the U.S. Space Force.
This year’s Grand Marshal was U.S. Space Force Lt. General Philip A. Garrant, commander of Space Systems Command, headquartered at Los Angeles Air Force Base.
Hundreds of spectators heard music from the 300th Army Band, North and South High, Richardson Middle School’s Band and Color Guard, West High’s Entertainment Unit and Bishop Montgomery High School’s Thunder by Knight Music.
The Western Museum of Flight provided action in the air from vintage warbirds. Area veteran’s groups also took part.
Military aircraft, vehicles and support equipment were on display following the parade in the Del Amo Fashion Center parking lot and will be on display from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
