An 86-year-old man was charged Thursday with killing another octogenarian in a Mission Viejo home this week.
William Wiley was charged with murder, court records show. The name of the victim was not immediately released, but she was identified on the criminal complaint as Audraine W.
Deputies were called to a residence in the 28000 block of Via Arriaga in the gated Casta del Sol retirement community about 1 p.m. Tuesday regarding the death of the woman, said Carrie Braun, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Wiley lived with the victim, Braun said. Wiley’s family members said he has been diagnosed with dementia, she added.
Wiley did not enter a plea at his arraignment Thursday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. The hearing was rescheduled for Friday.
