Two men killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 74 in Meadowbrook were identified Monday.

Emanuel Esparza, 21, and Carlos Zuniga, 26, both of Perris, were fatally injured about 2:15 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of the 74 and Hammack Avenue, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the victims were involved in a crash involving two sedans, but the circumstances were still under investigation.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by Riverside County Fire Department paramedics.

Fire officials said two people were hospitalized after the crash — one person with major injuries and another with minor injuries.

The highway was shut down at the location for three hours while the wreckage was cleared and a preliminary investigation was conducted.

Additional details about the crash were expected to be released Monday afternoon.
