A motorist was arrested Thursday after a brief pursuit and standoff with authorities on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in the Santa Clarita area.
The man was taken into custody about 8:35 a.m. near Lyons Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. His name was not immediately available.
Officers had tried to stop the man for speeding a short time earlier on the southbound freeway near the Whitaker Brake Check Area in Castaic, but he kept going, the CHP reported.
The driver eventually came to a stop near Lyons Avenue, prompting a full closure of the southbound lanes due to the ensuing standoff. The motorist was taken into custody a short time later.
