Authorities Friday announced they have located the mother of a boy who had been found in a Paramount homeless encampment.
The boy, who had been tentatively identified by authorities as Anthony, was found about 10 a.m. Thursday with a man at the encampment at the Los Angeles River near the Long Beach (710) and Glenn Anderson (105) freeways, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department sought the public’s help to find the parents.
On Friday afternoon, the sheriff’s department reported that the boy’s mother had been located. The boy was placed in the custody of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
“Child is in DCFS custody and a social worker will be meeting with mother and son to reunite them or to provide the needed services for placement if necessary,” a sheriff’s department statement said. “Thank you to the public, the media, Aero Bureau and deputy personnel for their tireless efforts in the search for the child’s parents.”
