It took 66 firefighters 29 minutes to extinguish a fire at an apartment building in Baldwin Hills Wednesday morning.

Firefighters prevented the fire at 5020 W. Obama Blvd. from spreading into the attic of the apartments.

Firefighters battled the blaze at a garden-style apartment building and it was contained to the unit of origin. Two additional units sustained fire damage.

Fire crews received a 911 call at 4:36 a.m. to respond to the fire and they encountered a two-story building with heavy flames showing, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

The Red Cross was requested to assist an unknown number of displaced residents.

No injuries were reported.
