A brush fire that broke out near the Cahuilla Casino burned at least five acres Saturday.
The blaze was reported at 10:22 a.m. along Highway 371 north of Homestead Road near Anza, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Fire officials said the fire blackened five to 10 acres, though the forward spread was stopped at 11:15 a.m.
Firefighters on the ground were working on containing and controlling the blaze with the help of air tankers dropping retardant on the fire.
The California Highway Patrol estimated that Highway 371 near the fire would remain closed for three hours and was using a pilot vehicle to escort traffic through the area.
There were no reports of injuries or structure damage.
