Hazmat teams were called to contain about 100 gallons of fuel that spilled following a big rig collision that shut down the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway in Lakeview Terrace Tuesday.

The collision between the fuel truck and another vehicle was reported at about 2:45 p.m. on the westbound side of the freeway near Wheatland Avenue, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The truck jack-knifed following the collision and spilled about 100 gallons of fuel onto the asphalt, prompting authorities to shut down the westbound freeway east of Wheatland Avenue as LAFD hazmat units responded to contain the spill.

No injuries were reported in the collision, Stewart said. The cause was under investigation.

The freeway was reopened by 6:30 p.m.
