The coroner Saturday released the name of a man who was shot to death on a South Los Angeles street then struck by at least two vehicles.
Eduardo Trujillo, 33, was a Los Angeles resident.
It was initially believed the man now identified as Trujillo died from a hit-and-run crash, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison said. The man was then hit by a second vehicle, and that driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
However, it turned out the man died from a gunshot wound before he was hit by the vehicles, Madison said.
The death occurred around 1:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Towne and East Vernon avenues, he said.
Police have no suspect information and don’t know if the shooting was gang-related, the officer said.
Anyone with information was asked to contact detectives at LAPD’s Central Division at 213-486-6606. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
