A big rig and sedan collided Wednesday on the Pomona (60) Freeway on the boundary separating Eastvale and Ontario, causing the smaller vehicle to become wedged underneath the tractor-trailer.
The crash happened about 11:55 a.m. on the eastbound 60 near the Interstate 15 interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The car and semi, which was hauling concrete, impacted in the No. 3 lane, though the circumstances were unclear, according to the CHP.
The semi continued going another 100 feet, dragging the sedan underneath it, before coming to a stop, witnesses told the CHP.
Riverside County Fire Department crews were sent to the location and discovered that the driver of the sedan had extricated himself, suffering only superficial injuries, according to reports from the scene. The victim did not require hospitalization.
The trucker was not injured.
CHP officers shut down the No. 3 and No. 4 lanes because of the crash, prompting a SigAlert at 12:15 p.m. because of the ensuing traffic jam.
The wreckage was expected to be removed by 2 p.m.
The CHP was investigating the collision.
