A fire that erupted Wednesday in Moreno Valley destroyed an outbuilding and spread to an adjacent house, damaging it and displacing the occupants.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 11:50 a.m. in the 24000 block of Sunnymead Boulevard, near Indian Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the outbuilding, extending to the residence, which had been evacuated.

Firefighters knocked down the blaze less than 30 minutes later.

The two occupants of the property were displaced, but it was unclear whether they required assistance from the Red Cross with finding temporary alternate lodgings.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
