A fire tore through an outbuilding in Meadowbrook Monday, threatening a house and vehicles before crews got it under control.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 4:15 p.m. in the 21800 block of John Street, just east of Highway 74, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews were dispatched after receiving numerous 911 calls about a large column of smoke rising from the location, fire officials said.

Firefighters encountered an outbuilding fully engulfed, with fire “exposures” to an adjacent residence and other property, according to reports from the scene.

The blaze was knocked down about 4:50 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
