A 76-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in the Adams-Normandie neighborhood of Los Angeles, authorities said Saturday.
The crash occurred at 7:22 p.m. Friday at Jefferson and Hobart boulevards, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison.
The pedestrian was identified as Tecle Ande, and while the coroner’s office said he resided in Santa Monica, Madison said officers believed him to be homeless.
Ande was pronounced dead at the scene, Madison said.
Investigators said he was crossing Jefferson outside of a crosswalk when he was struck.
The vehicle’s driver remained at the scene.
