Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Beverly Hills Friday.
The checkpoint will be in operation from approximately 5-11 p.m. in the area of North Santa Monica Boulevard and Crescent Drive, targeting impaired drivers to assure safety of other drivers.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Beverly Hills Police Department Chief Mark G. Stainbrook said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”
Some prescription and over-the-counter drugs are capable of interfering with driving. Stainbrook also reminded the public that while marijuana may be legal, driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal. Drivers charged with first-time offenses are subject to hefty fines and a suspended license.
