A 33-year-old man was rescued by fire crews Tuesday after his vehicle tumbled down an embankment in the West Los Angeles area and landed on its side, leaving the motorist with non-life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters responded around 1 p.m. to the embankment off the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway near Bundy Avenue and stabilized the car with ropes, according to Margaret Stewart with the Los Angeles Fire Department.

After the car was stabilized, firefighters were able to pull the man from the car, and take him to a hospital with unspecified but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the LAFD.

The cause of the crash was under investigation and it was not immediately clear if the wet weather played a role.
