A 40-year-old man was charged Wednesday with attempting to kill and rob a man in a Fullerton parking lot.

John James Verile was accused of stabbing a man in the neck in a parking lot at 150 W. Santa Fe Ave., near Harbor Boulevard and Walnut Avenue, about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Fullerton police.

Verile was charged with attempted murder and attempted robbery, both felonies, with sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury to the victim and the personal use of a deadly weapon. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of methamphetamine.

Verile did not enter a plea at his arraignment Wednesday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. The arraignment was rescheduled for Thursday morning.

Verile was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in February 2015, according to the criminal complaint.
