Three men were arrested in connection with an armed robbery in downtown Los Angeles, including one who was shot by a private security guard with a stun gun, police said Wednesday.
Officers responded to the 300 block of South Wall Street, near Third Street, at around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday to a report of an armed robbery in progress, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The suspects parked their vehicle near a business and entered it with handguns and a shotgun. The suspects proceeded to the register and the back room of the business. The owner of the business saw what was happening via closed-circuit television and called 911, police said.
The suspects took cash and miscellaneous items. They also stole cash from customers inside the store, police said.
When the officers arrived, they saw the suspects exiting the business running away. The officers established a perimeter, located the suspects and took them into custody, police said.
Three handguns along with the victims stolen property were recovered, police said.
Police identified the suspects as 41-year Louis Peralta, 25-year-old Jacob Alarcon and 44-year-old Damian Morales. They were all booked for robbery.
Morales was injured when he was shot by a private security guard with a stun gun. Morales was treated for his injuries at a hospital and released for booking, police said.
Bail for Morales and Peralta was both set at $1.2 million. Alarcon’s bail was set at $150,000.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Peralta and Alarcon were involved in another armed robbery on July 12.
