A shelter-in-place order was issued in Temecula and advised for Great Oaks High School Friday after pool chemicals spilled from a commercial vehicle near Pechanga Resort Casino.

Fire crews responded at 7:42 a.m. Friday to a report of pool chemicals spilled from the vehicle in the 12000 block of Pechanga Parkway in Temecula, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Fire officials said that hazmat crews subsequently responded to the scene and were working to mitigate and neutralize the spill.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for areas south of Rocky Bear, west of Peach Tree Street, north of Pechanga Road, and east of Pechanga Resort Road, according to fire officials. Great Oaks High School was advised to shelter in place in abundance of caution, though there was no threat to the school, and students were deemed safe.

Fire officials asked people to avoid the area as hazmat crews aim to mitigate the spill .
