Two men were arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm and possession of narcotics, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday.

Deputies from the sheriff’s Perris station responded to a report of a negligent discharge of a firearm in the area of Margarth Street and Highway 74 in Good Hope at around 7:20 p.m. Thursday.

The suspects allegedly fled the area in a white Chevrolet Camaro before deputies arrived, but were located nearby.

The driver was identified as Armando Salazar-Garcia, 29, who was accompanied by 23-year-old Alejandro Gaona, both from Perris.

Both were detained while deputies searched the Camaro, where they allegedly found a firearm, eight pounds of processed and packaged marijuana, a small quantity of narcotics and approximately $4,000.

Deputies subsequently authored a search warrant for a residence in the 23000 block of Margarth Street, where they allegedly found an illegal marijuana grow, an unregistered firearm and a stolen firearm.

Salazar-Garcia and Gaona were booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of marijuana for sales, possession of narcotics and possession of a handgun within a vehicle.

Anyone with additional information about the suspects was encouraged to contact Deputy Soto at 951-210-1000.
