Firefighters rescued a 55-year-old hiker in a remote section of West Mandeville Fire Road in Westridge-Canyonback Wilderness Regional Park in Brentwood.
A rescue helicopter located the “seriously ill” man and lowered a Flight Paramedic to medically assess the man and begin treatment. The man was hoisted to safety around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The patient and rescuer were hoisted onto the hovering helicopter for in-flight advanced care during transport to a regional hospital.
The man’s condition was not immediately known.
