A body was found in the California Aqueduct in Lancaster Monday.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies and personnel from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner responded to 195th Street West and West Avenue G to a report of the discovery of a body under a bridge around 4 p.m. Monday, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Investigators have not determined if the discovery is related to the disappearance of two brothers from Glendale who headed to the Lancaster area to go fishing and have not been seen since Friday.

Divers initially began the search for 86-year-old Minas Khacheryan and his 78-year-old brother, Grigor Khacheryan, in the aqueduct at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, sheriff’s Deputy M. Chen told City News Service. The search ended later in Saturday afternoon, Sgt. Michael Rodriguez of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau/Missing Persons Unit.

The “speed” of the aqueduct could have moved the bodies at least 40 miles in either direction, Rodriguez said.
