A man wielding a machete during a confrontation with Los Angeles Police Department officers is in critical condition Wednesday evening after being shot by police in Calabasas.
Police were called at approximately 7:40 p.m. to 23400 block of West Calabasas Road and Mulholland Drive regarding an assault with a deadly weapon, LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman told City News Service.
Upon their arrival, officers located a man armed with a machete and during a confrontation with them, the officers opened fire on the suspect, striking him, Eisenman said.
The suspect was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
It was not immediately clear what led up to the shooting.
Eisenman said no officers were injured.
