Two people were killed and three others were hospitalized Saturday following a two-vehicle collision that sheared a fire hydrant in Northridge.
Los Angeles firefighters were called to 18101 W. Roscoe Blvd. east of Louise Avenue at 1:19 a.m. where they found three people trapped inside vehicles, one car lodged against a building and the damaged hydrant, LAPD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
LAFD paramedics pronounced two people dead at the scene.
Fire crews freed the trapped victims and took them to a hospital in serious condition.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
