Authorities Friday sought the public’s help to find the hit-and-run motorist involved in fatally injuring a woman who was crossing a street in the south Los Angeles area.

Officers were sent to Manchester Boulevard and Cimarron Street about 10:35 p.m. Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“A vehicle traveling eastbound Manchester Boulevard collided with a 63-year-old woman who was crossing the street at the intersection of Cimarron Street,” an LAPD statement said. “The driver of the vehicle fled eastbound Manchester Boulevard without stopping, identifying themselves or rendering aid.”

Jamilah Leah De Roux, of Long Beach, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

No description was available of the hit-and-run vehicle. A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a fatal hit-and-run.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the LAPD South Traffic Division at 323-421-2561, or 877-LAPD-247. Tipsters may also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
