A pedestrian died from injuries sustained after he was struck by a Dodge 3500 truck in Fullerton, authorities said Saturday.
Officers from the Fullerton Police Department responded at approximately 7:13 pm. Friday to the area of South Brookhurst Road and West Southgate Avenue regarding a person down and upon their arrival found a man lying in the street, said Sgt. Ryan O’Neil.
During the course of their investigation, officers discovered the driver of the black truck, a 78-year-old man from Whittier, was traveling south on Brookhurst and the pedestrian, who was crossing the street to the west, walked into coming southbound traffic and the truck was unable to yield before colliding with him, O’Neil said.
Paramedics from the Fullerton Fire Department were called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead. The driver remained at the scene.
At this time, alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the collision, police said.
