A woman was killed and two others critically injured — including an 8-year-old — when a vehicle collided with a group of people Thursday near a bus stop in the South Los Angeles area.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Thursday at 1758 W. 83rd St., just east of Western Avenue and several blocks south of Florence Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A woman, her child and the driver who caused the crash were all sent to the hospital. That woman, whose name was withheld pending notification of the next of kin, later died from her injuries, according to ABC7. The critically injured driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the station.

The gender of the 8-year-old child initially reported as an infant, was not provided. The child and the driver remained in critical condition.
