A pedestrian walking outside a crosswalk early Monday in south Los Angeles was struck and killed by a driver, police said.

It happened just after midnight around La Cienega and Obama boulevards, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The pedestrian died at the scene, police said. The victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and was cooperating with police, the LAPD reported. Investigators said drugs or alcohol did not appear to be factors for the driver.

The LAPD’s South Traffic Division was investigating the crash.
