A 77-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured during a hit-and-run accident in Burbank, police Wednesday said.
Officers responded to Clybourn Avenue and Oxnard Street Tuesday around 7:20 a.m. to a report of a traffic collision involving a bicyclist, according to Burbank Police Department spokesman Sgt. Stephen Turner,
The bicyclist was traveling south on the east sidewalk of Clybourn Avenue, approaching Oxnard Street, Turner said. As he entered the intersection, a black sedan heading east on Oxnard collided with the bicyclist and fled the scene, he added.
“The bicyclist sustained major injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to a local trauma center where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries,” Turner said in a statement.
Anyone with information about the collision was urged to contact Burbank Police Traffic Investigator R. Murphy at 818-238-3103.
